Q: Do I have a Canvas account?
For all Yale-NUS College Students: Your accounts are created upon successful enrolment into the College and after selecting your modules, usually before the beginning of the new Academic Year.
For Faculty and Staff: All Canvas accounts for teaching faculty are provisioned following the enrolment data or upon request. Account creation for other users e.g. teaching assistant, external observers, will require separate request.
Q: What is my Canvas login ID?
If you are a Faculty, Staff (i.e. yncxxx), Student (e.g. e01234567) or have been provided a Yale-NUS visitor account (e.g. yncv0123), choose NUSNET ID as your login method.
Sample NUSNET ID logins:

For users who have received the login email from us, choose External Guest as your login method.

Students, do note that your NUSNET ID login credentials is different from your NUS Webmail login - particularly the Login ID. Please login as nusstu\nusnet_id. e.g. your nusnet_id is e01234567, then login as nusstu\e01234567 together with your set password.

Q: I have reset my NUSNET password recently. Do I need to reset for Canvas too?
No, you don't have to. NUSNET account credentials is a "single-sign-on" account. If you have updated your password, your new password will be applicable to all services that is using NUSNET login.
Q: I can login to Canvas successfully but I don't see anything or enrolled to any module or still looking at past module(s). Is this an error?
Canvas follows the enrolment data instructions very strictly. Particularly for any change in your enrolment, the data feed may not refresh immediately. This is more prevalent in the new semester, where irregular enrolment changes are expected. If you need urgent help with enrolments, do write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will verify your enrolment details with the department(s) in-charge.
Q: I am a Faculty. Where can I get additional Canvas related resources specific to our College?
Do head over to the YNC: Canvas & Educational Technology Resources course site in Canvas (login to Canvas required). E-mail us if you encounter any access issues while attempting to enter the course.
Q: I am a visiting Faculty and using 'External Guest' as my login method. I am encountering some trouble with my account when attempting to access other services. I kept getting login errors when attempting to access those services. Is there something wrong with my account?
Canvas' External Guest account is not a NUSNET account. You will be provided with this account on a case-by-case basis. If we have provided you with a unique 'External Guest' Canvas account, you can only access Canvas. Access to other systems e.g. Library reserves, staff portal, Panopto video, will require a valid NUSNET ID. Please consult with your coordinator on the level of access. We will liaise with the department(s) in-charge accordingly.
